Goodwill Industries and DELL Introduce the Computer ReConnect Program 02/09/2009

ReConnect is an initiative that allows consumers throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont to recycle any brand of computer or computer equipment for free. ReConnect is a partnership between Dell and Goodwill Industries of Northern New England. The Council on the Future of Vermont and St. Michael’s College just published Vermont in Transition: Social, Economic and Environmental Trends, a comprehensive study tracking the key changes that have occurred in Vermont in areas as diverse as education, the economy, agriculture, demography, crime, energy, climate and civic engagement. This press conference was held February 3 to highlight some of the 160 trends identified in the book. It includes Sarah Waring and Paul Costello from the non profit and nonpartisan Vermont Council on Rural Development and Drs. Herb Kessel and Vince Bolduc--the lead authors who led the research team. This is one of two public hearings held, this one at the Eden Elementary school, for residents from around the Eden Asbestos mine to comment to and question the Vermont Department of Health, The VT Department of Environmental Conservation and the US Environmental Protection Agency after a released study showing possible statisitcal anomalies of asbestos related deaths and hospital discharges for a period from 1994-2005.
