St. Michael's College: The Lilly Ledbetter Story: Ensuring that Women are Paid Fairly 03/09/2011

After a prolonged fight against gender pay discrimination at her job at Goodyear Tire & Rubber in Gadsden, Alabama, Lilly Ledbetter succeeded in getting the Supreme Court ruling against her overturned. The effect of the Court’s holding was reversed by the passage of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act in 2009. President Obama signed the Act into law on January 29, 2009. In May 2010 Ms.Ledbetter was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the City University of New York. Sponsored by the Center for Women and Gender. Presented by St. Michael's College. Burlington Ward 6 NPA Meeting 03/03/2011

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's seven Wards to encourage citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies help improve communication between the citizens of Burlington and City government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward. Ward 6 meets the first Thursday of the month. Meeting place: Greek Orthodox Church 600 South Willard Street.

CCTV Receives NEH Grant to Support Community Archives

CCTV Center for Media & Democracy is pleased to announce receipt of a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Humanities Collections and Reference Resources grant alongside 32 peer archival institutions across the country.
